Hey all! We all want gleaming pearly whites right? Well after hearing about the hype of Just Smile’s activated charcoal I had to try it out. It seemed only fair to give a 2 month update to really see whether it lived up to my expectations.
Claims:
- See results within ONE WEEK, 5-6 Shades Whiter
- Contains Anti-Bacterial and Anti-Fungal Qualities which works great against fighting & preventing Gum Disease.
Directions:
Wet a toothbrush and dip into Activated Charcoal. Brush teeth as normal, paying special attention to areas showing the most staining. Sip a bit of water, swish through mouth thoroughly and spit. Rinse well, until spit is clear. For best results, brush your teeth with activated charcoal 2 times daily for 7 days & three-four times per week after.
Ingredients:
Just Smile have also kindly stated the ingredients and amounts which is super useful – as I could see what was in the product before I bought it.
Coconut Activated Carbon – 96%
Bentonite Clay – 3.5%
Organic Mint Extract – 0.4%
Organic Orange Peel Extract – 0.1%
Application:
Honestly I can’t even explain how little product is needed per use. I have been using this product for 2 months and it has there is still a lot of product left. I would personally advise to buy a separate toothbrush with this as it does stain the bristles black (which I learned the hard way). The packaging says to brush in circular motions for 2 minutes, to ensure you don’t scrub, which is damaging to the teeth.
Good Points:
- It does work – I can assure you about that
- As well as whitening the activated charcoal does give your teeth a deep clean
- It is super easy to apply!
Bad Points:
- As it does not have a minty taste substituted it for toothpaste is a little odd
- It can get messy as it comes in powder form
- Some days it is difficult to remove the charcoal from your teeth
- I would not say my teeth are 5 – 6 shades lighter, about 2 – 3 shades
Overall:
I really do like this product and it does work, as an avid tea and coffee drinker it lifted a lot of the stains. Although it does claim to make teeth 5 – 6 shades lighter, I did not see that much of a transformation. This could be due to the fact that I have pretty good teeth anyway, but I’m not sure. The fact that it is a replacement for regular toothpaste is a bit odd – purely because it does not have the minty freshness, but that is something that can you can get used to – using mouthwash would resolve this. However, I cannot emphasise that this product does work (I can see it lifting tough stains). My family had even noticed the change, and believe me, they wouldn’t notice subtle changes! Therefore, I would totally recommend this product!

June 20, 2017 at 7:38 amSounds really good! I have been trying a teeth whiting powder that I can only use once a week so the results are pretty poor, think I’m going to try this!

June 20, 2017 at 10:01 pmLove the honest review! I’ve been trying to whiten my teeth for like 6 months, but I drink a lot of coffee so I’m not seeing a lot of progress yet.

July 14, 2017 at 1:27 pmFirst of all I want to say excellent blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your head prior to writing. I have had trouble clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out. I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or tips? Kudos!
