Hey! Its that time of year again folks, it’s Christmassss! I do admit, it does take me a while to get into the spirit, but once I do, its absolute mania. Its finally hit me that Christmas is only 5 days away, and I am so excited! There are certain things I love about Christmas, here’s some of them!
Christmas Coffee – It all begins on December 1st, when Starbucks and Costa come out with their Christmas ranges. I literally wait all year for Costa’s Black Forest Hot Chocolate, as it sums up my festive mood in just one drink. In my household, we have a Black Forest Gateaux every year instead of Christmas pudding, so thank you Costa for putting me in the Christmas spirit. For those wondering, here are the drinks on offer this year (this in in the UK, I’m not sure about other countries):
Costa Coffee Christmas Drinks:
- Gingerbread Latte
- Lindt Hot Chocolate
- Black Forest Hot Chocolate
- Honeycomb Latte
- Mint Hot Chocolate
- Salted Caramel Cappuccino
- Toasted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate
Starbucks Christmas Drinks:
- Toffee Nut Latte
- Gingerbread Latte
- Eggnog Latte
- Fudge Hot Chocolate
- White Christmas Hot Chocolate
- *All of these are available on ice*
Christmas Music – It is finally acceptable to sing Mary’s Boy Child without getting weird glares (even though I do it all year round). Even those who don’t particularly like Christmas end up humming along on the festive classics – which I absolutely love. I’ve inserted some of my favourites below, feel free to sing your heart out (I am right now).
Films – Everyone has a favourite, am I right? Let me know yours below. My personal favourite is Elf, as it is the only Christmas DVD that has been in the house during my lifetime (I am 17 by the way). However, it’s a good reason to happily watch it over and over again, which I do, and love every time.
Decorations – Christmas is the time for those who are extravagant to be let of their leash. Tinsel is permitted to be EVERYWHERE and electricity bills go out the window with the amount of LED lighting about. Every year my family always drive around the county to look at other houses Christmas decorations, because some people go to an enormous effort which should be appreciated.
Food – I am not going to lie when I say that food isn’t a big part of the festive season, because it is! In the UK, we go all out and have a full roast dinner on Christmas Day with turkey, cranberry sauce, roast potatoes, peas, carrots, parsnips, stuffing, pigs in blankets, gravy and the renowned Brussel sprouts. If I still have the ability to walk after I’ve eaten, then it has not been a successful Christmas. In the evening, it is always tradition to crack open a bottle of Baileys, which we only drink once a year.
Advent Calendar – In all honesty, it brings back the inner child in all of us. However, the trend these last few years have been to purchase beauty advent calendar, which I have been fortunate enough to do this year. A review will be up on Christmas Eve, so watch out!
Happiness – The thing, above all, I love about Christmas is the amount of happiness and festive cheer spread among strangers . I would absolutely love people to be like this all year round because everyone is so happy. Even those who may not have anyone to spend Christmas with is blessed with something from those who do. This is why I love Christmas.
What are your plans for Christmas? And what are your favourite things about the festive season?
