Products I Regret Buying

Hello hello hello! This last few months I have been revisiting products I bought ages ago, some of them amazing – others not so good. Here are some of the products I will not be purchasing again.

Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution

I bought this product a while back after hearing rave review form people with hyper pigmentation like myself. It is recommended to use this every day and night for around 3 months to achieve smooth skin with an even tone. I found this worked for the first month, and very well. However, after this point there was little to no improvement, causing myself no benefit. However, there were some positives – it smelt good (citrus scent) and had a pipette on the  handle so ensured no product waste. Overall, disappointing for a Kiehls product, and not cheap, retailing at £37 for 30ml.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder

To be honest, shout at me all you want, but I have yet to find a Rimmel product that has blown me away. I find the Stay Matte Powder too lightweight for my liking, and don’t feel like it does that much – it certainly did not keep my foundation in place all day. This could work if you were wearing a BB or CC cream though. As you can see however, I have hit pan so have given it a good run, but I’m not really a fan.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation

I bought the Rimmel “Wake Me Up” Foundation a while back when it was all the trend. Zoella’s passion for this product ultimately made me purchase this. It didn’t quite work for me, the durability and coverage were worse than I was expecting. It wouldn’t last a full 6 hour day of school and the coverage is low to medium in my opinion. The foundation itself was quite glitter, if they were going for a glowy look, it didn’t quite work. This product ultimately put me off drugstore foundations for a long time, however if you have any recommendations, please let me know below.

w7 Prime Magic Face Primer

After the success of w7 eyeshadow palettes, I thought to buy the primer which has some amazing reviews on Amazon, and for a few pounds you can’t really go wrong. It was alright when I first puchased this, nothing special. I don’t know whether you can see but about after a month this primer started turing a weird yellow colour, even though it was supposed to be transparent. For me, this is quite offputting. As well as that, it has a horrible smell, like fuel or something that you have in a car: not something that you willingly want to put on the face. Overall – disappointing product.

Boohoo Zip Ankle Boot

During a flash sale on Boohoo, which they have a lot of, I bought these boots which were discounted to £10. For the first 2 weeks they were great, and then they rapidly started to fall apart, to become the picture above. As the heels are plastic and not wood, they are now very difficult to wear as they are slip prone. I should have really returned them, but now I am writing a blog post about them. I don’t think I’ll be purchasing shoes from them again, but their clothes are still great.

Is there anything you regret buying?
