Madeira, Portugal

The island of Madeira is a popular holiday destination especially for honeymooners, couples or families. With its’ romantic scenery and adventurous activities (like surfing, cycling and hiking) it is a perfect place to enjoy this summer!

The island is mostly made up from volcanic terrain which allows for perfect walking and cycling paths. The subtropical climate means you will find plenty of exotic fruit and fresh fish to enjoy. Cyprus

If you are looking for a bit of mystery and culture this year, combined with warm weather and delicious food and drink… look no further. Cyprus is a gorgeous island with sandy beaches, rustic villages and romantic scenery. Did you know it is the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite? Cyprus has lots of history to explore, as well as the relaxed, Mediterranean vibe.

It is likely you have heard of Ayia Napa, which is a famous summer party hot spot. But if this is not your scene, avoid this and head to laidback Larnaca. With 325 sunny days a year, Cyprus is a good destination all year round!

Kefalonia, Greece

I am not pretending a Greek island is an ‘alternative’ holiday destination. But have you considered Kefalonia? The island is getting more popular recently, but you won’t find herds of tourists like some of the other islands. easyJet has recently started offering holiday packages to Kefalonia. It has breathtaking scenery, from mountains to golden beaches and crystal-clear water.

Like everything Greek, there is plenty of history and architecture to explore for those who like to. For the beach-lovers, there are plenty of modern beach resorts with beach bars. When the sun sets into the water, enjoy a plate of fresh seafood and local Robola wine.
