Hey guys! So I have been back at university for a week now, and the last 7 days has been dedicated to moving in and making my flat feel like home. I am finally happy with my flat so I thought it would be nice to give you a little Second Year university flat tour.
- Has two bedrooms
- Shared bathroom
- Two double beds
- 10 minute walk from the University of Leicester
- £120 a week (water and internet included, £250 electricity allowance)
I have an open plan kitchen / living / dining room, with the kitchen worktops on the back wall of the flat. The work surface is a beautiful black colour with white cupboards, making it easy to find appliances that compliment this. As there is not much cupboard space, a lot of our utensils have been displayed in pots. I found this lovely copper one from Poundland. Our kettle and toaster were from Wilko, with a matching Russell Hobbs microwave, all in black. Also on show is a spice rack, mugs and other cooking essentials.
Right next to the kitchen is the dining table. This table could quite easily seat 3 people, potentially 4 – great for hosting. The table has been matched with some beautiful white marble placemats and coasters, along with a cotton fresh candle from Tesco.
My living room consists of a TV, 2 sofas and a coffee table. I have furnished the coffee table with some wooden coasters from B&M, and some magazines to give it a homely feel. We have also added a floor lamp and a copper lampshade from Dunelm to compliment all other furnishings.
Unfortunately my bathroom does not have a bath, but it does have a spacious shower and heated towel rail. I also love the minimalist, modern feel with this room, with plenty of place underneath the sink for both my and my flatmate to put all our toiletries.
This year I have gone for a copper and baby pink colour scheme. My bedding is from B&M as part of their luxury duvet range and is a beautiful silk and velvet material (£19.99). This is matched with a fluffy brown cushion also from B&M, perfect for winter nights to cuddle on (£9.99). Alongside this is a reed diffuser from House of Fraser (£18.99) and smells like Pink Grapefruit and Mango, a refreshing scent to last me the year. In the bottom area of my bedside table I have my record player from Bush (£19.99) and my records. I so have a fitted wardrobe with sliding doors.
My favourite piece on my desk is my copper lamp from Wilko (£19.99). The adjustable arm is perfect for studying at all times of day. Next to this I have my makeup and skincare in a copper metal basket from Primark (£3) and my jewellery box from Stackers (£25). I have also filled my desk with little trinkets and my Kylie Birthday Collection and Ted Baker nail polish set. I have also added some photos from home on my travel board from New Look. Finally, I have my notebooks and diary from Poundland. These ones are marble and copper, with my diary saying “I am really busy” on it in gold lettering. These will be perfect for keeping on top of deadlines and making notes in lectures.
So this is my flat, although not complete, it is certainly becoming like home and I look forward to spending the next year here.
