City breaks are a popular travel option and even though places in Europe, like Venice, Budapest or Rome are often top of people’s bucket list, there are some amazing city breaks you can take right here in the UK. Here are some great tips for planning a weekend city break in the UK.

Choosing The Right City

The first step is to choose the right city. London is an obvious choice because, no matter how many times you have been there before, there is just so much to see and do. There are some amazing museums and art galleries, plenty of incredible places to eat, and you can even go and see a show. At the minute, your options are limited but if you plan a trip later next year, you should hopefully be able to enjoy everything that our amazing capital has to offer.

However, before you make any decisions, consider some of the other amazing UK cities. If you are interested in history, for example, why not head to York? There are plenty of great attractions and sites of historical interest. Exploring the traditional cobbled streets and small back alleys is great fun, and there are plenty of nice places to eat and drink as well.

If you feel like you missed out on a beach holiday this year, why not head to Brighton? It’s one of the most popular cities in the country for young people, with plenty of great nightlife and some beautiful beaches for relaxing staycations.

Getting There

Next, you need to decide how to get to your chosen city. If you are taking a family trip with the kids, it may be best to drive. Families that like taking a lot of weekend breaks should consider upgrading their car to something like the Vauxhall combo life 7 seater so there is plenty of room for everybody and you are all comfortable on long trips. If you don’t drive, you should consider getting the train or even flying if you are travelling a long distance. Just make sure to buy tickets early for the best deals.

Finding Accommodation

The best way to find accommodation for a staycation is to look at sites like Airbnb. Although you can find hotels, it will be much cheaper to rent an apartment that you can share. This is especially true if you are heading to cities like London or York, which are very popular with tourists. When looking for apartments, always check plenty of reviews so you can get an idea of which places are the best.

There are so many amazing cities to discover in the UK, so why not start planning your next weekend city break right away?
