Kefalonia, Greece
I am not pretending a Greek island is an ‘alternative’ holiday destination. But have you considered Kefalonia? The island is getting more popular recently, but you won’t find herds of tourists like some of the other islands. easyJet has recently started offering holiday packages to Kefalonia. It has breathtaking scenery, from mountains to golden beaches and crystal-clear water.
Like everything Greek, there is plenty of history and architecture to explore for those who like to. For the beach-lovers, there are plenty of modern beach resorts with beach bars. When the sun sets into the water, enjoy a plate of fresh seafood and local Robola wine.
