Hey guys! This post is about the best foundation for combination skin is written by the lovely Sophie from girlvsworldblog.com, please do go and check out her blog after reading this post, she is truly lovely! Without further ado, ‘ll pass you over:
I haven’t done a makeup favourites post for a while, so I thought today I’d write for those who wonder about the best foundation for combination skin!
If I’m being completely honest, I’m not actually 100% sure what skin type I have (is that weird?!) Sometimes it’s oily in my T-Zone, sometimes it’s dry around my nose but also oily, but most of the time it’s pretty normal – I guess it just changes depending on the weather. For that reason, I’d say I have combination skin. So, without further ado, here are my top 3 foundations for combination skin:
Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation
This Huda Beauty foundation is a staple in my foundation collection, so of course it had to be featured in my top 3 foundations. I don’t actually think I’ve heard a bad thing said about this foundation! It’s definitely more on the matte side, but I wouldn’t say it’s too drying at all. I prefer a more matte foundation as I powder at the end anyway so feel that dewy foundations are pointless (if I didn’t powder it would just slide straight off.)
The coverage of this foundation is absolutely insane – I don’t think I’ve ever experienced anything like it! It also blends like a dream and smooths out skin tone like no other. My skin looks almost perfect whenever I wear this foundation.
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation
If you’ve read my Too Faced Born This Way Foundation & Concealer Review, you’ll know I wasn’t massively keen on this foundation at first. Oh, how times have changed!
I actually get compliments on my skin whenever I wear this foundation, which rarely happens (my Nan actually wants to buy it herself because she loves the look of it on my skin, haha!) I find this foundation to be much easier to blend and comes out more full coverage when I use a brush rather than a beauty blender.
The shade is absolutely perfect (I use the lightest shade, snow) for my pale skin and covers my freckles just enough, but not so much that I look like a ghost with no colour to me!
In my personal opinion, the Too Faced ‘Born This Way’ foundation is the perfect balance between matte and dewy. It adds a subtle glow to my skin without being too oily/dewy, and stays on my skin for the majority of the day without having to constantly top up my powder. I’m a huge fan of this foundation now!
It’s not quite as full coverage as the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter foundation, but it’s a great medium coverage if you’re looking for something a little lighter.
Milani Cosmetics Conceal & Perfect Foundation
I bought this Milani foundation in a darker shade than I usually would specifically for nights out when I’m faked tanned, as I’d heard it was full coverage. Full coverage is an understatement for this foundation.
The name ‘2-in-1 concealer & foundation’ kind of explains why this foundation is so full coverage. If you know me, you’ll know I’m a huge fan of full coverage foundations, as long as they’re not cakey. Although this foundation is quite thick, it doesn’t come across cakey on my skin at all. It’s quite easy to blend out, and I prefer to use a foundation brush for maximum coverage. I can understand why it is considered the best foundation for combination skin.
If you read my Get Ready for my 21st Birthday With Me, you’ll know I tend to combine this foundation with the LA Girl Pro Coverage foundation. I love mixing the Milani and LA Girl foundations together as I find the LA Girl one is dewy and the Milani one is matte, so they balance each other’s finishes out perfectly. If this was a ‘top 4 foundations’ post, you bet I’d be featuring the LA Girl Pro Coverage foundation as my fourth favourite.
The coverage and blend-ability makes it perfect for when you’re in a rush getting ready for a night out. This is definitely one of my top 3 foundations!
So, there we have it: my top 3 foundations! Have you tried any of these foundations – what did you think? Let me know down in the comments your opinions on these foundations and what you think the best foundation for combination skin is. <3
