Hello! We all have a splurge on something we don’t really need right? I had that moment when purchasing this blush by NARS. Is it worth the price tag, or a trap aimed to please when cheaper dupes are available? Let’s find out, here’s an in-depth NARS Mata Hari Blush review.
Packaging
NARS packaging is iconic, it really is. The compact has a great click mechanism (which is so satisfying) and has the typical sleek feel supported by most of their other packaged products. The box is smaller then I thought but ultimately perfect for travelling. It is clear that a little product does go a long way, and the mirror is a bonus – although I have never really gone to top up my blush during the day? Odd one, comment below if you do, I am interested in your thoughts on the topic!
The only thing I am not a particular fan of is the material of the packaging. For anyone who owns a NARS product will know that it has a leathery, suede type coating, that really does feel luxurious. However, the packaging attracts so much makeup shrapnel. If you leave it in your makeup bag you will find that the dust from other products will just stick to it, and it is a nightmare to clean. When a product is so pricey, it is annoying when eyeshadow pigments are stuck to it.

How NARS Describe Their Blush
Iconic shades include a range of translucent, natural tones, each with a subtle pink for a natural-looking blush undertone to highlight the complexion. Silky, superfine micronized powder pigments in matte and shimmering shades ensure irresistibly soft, blendable application. A light application of even the highest-intensity hues delivers a natural-looking flush. Soft, buildable shades deliver a wide range of effects, ranging from ultra-sheer to powerful pops of colour.

Nars Mata Hari Blush Thoughts
With NARS being the reputable brand that it is, products are always of a high standard. This blush is definitely no different. It is so well pigmented and highly buildable, perfect for everyday makeup and also nights out. The shade itself has a cool pink blush tone but becomes more subtle when it is applied to the skin. Once applied, the blush immediately adds definition to your cheeks and brightens your face, which is beautiful.
Application
A universal tone, this blush shade needs a varying amount of product depending on skin tone. The key is not to apply too much on your brush regardless, use a light hand, tap off the excess mata hari powder and probably swatching on the hand beforehand to avoid overly flushed cheeks (it’s happened before guys, never again). Blush is difficult to wipe off after all. Overall, this is a great blush.
Price
Not going to lie, for many of us, £25 for a blush is a purchase to seriously think about. Personally, at this price, you do start to think of requirements and expectations before use, and NARS hit pretty much all of them. Even though it sounds cliché, in this case, a little product does go a long way. The price has surely come from a place of demand, especially with the cult popularity of Nars blushes, especially “Orgasm”. I would happily pay this price again and again for a product as good as this.
